Sophia Shu Wang, MT-BC, MBA

Board Certified Music Therapy (MT-BC)

Integration Practitioner | Life Coach | Violinist

My Background

I've spent over 10 years using music and evidence-based therapy to help people heal from complex trauma, build healthier relationships, and find their authentic voice. I trained at NYU under incredible mentors who pioneered approaches like Analytical Music Therapy and Vocal Psychotherapy. I speak English and Mandarin, and I deeply understand the unique pressures that come with immigrant family dynamics, workplace discrimination, and navigating identity in multiple cultures.

My own journey taught me that healing isn't about fixing what's "wrong" with us—it's about reconnecting with who we really are underneath all the expectations, trauma, and roles we play.

How I Work

I combine traditional therapy techniques with the power of music, imagery, somatic awareness, non-ordinary state of consciousness, and creative expression. Sometimes we talk through relationship patterns and challenges we face. Sometimes we use music and imagery helps us explore deeper layer of psyche that we can't quite reach from talk therapy.

I'm trained in psychodynamic and humanistic approach, psychedelic assisted therapy, end of life and grief counseling, and relationship coaching. I understand what it's like to recover from difficult relationships, workplace harassment, cultural trauma, and the exhaustion of trying to be perfect all the time.
